New genetic regions mapped to give new insight into migraine mechanisms: The world’s largest study of migraines has discovered dozens of new genetic regions linked to their onset, opening new doors to understanding what causes the debilitating headaches.

- QUT Chancellor Tim Fairfax and Distinguished Professor James Dale were named among Queensland’s most inspirational people in a Courier-Mail 170th birthday feature.
- Dr Linda Graham told 7 News Brisbane and Bundaberg why suspending and excluding students from school doesn’t work as a punishment.
- Campus Morning Mail revealed some additions within Professor Peter Coaldrake’s second edition of his and Dr Lawrence Stedman’s book, Raising the Stakes: gambling with the future of universities (here’s the correction). It also mentioned Distinguished Professor Aileen Moreton-Robinson’s new title.
- Dr Gary Mortimer talked stocktake sales with 9 News,and supermarkets with Radio National and ABC Gold Coast listeners, and spoke to 2UE about moves to rebrand Target. He was also quoted in an article about consumer choices in business magazine The Adviser.
- The formalising of the Centre of Tropical Crops and Biocommodities’ research partnership with the US Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory was reported by Green Car Congress, Technology Today, Domain B, Biofuels Digest and Prof Clive BeanEIN Presswire.
 - Radio National’s AM program sought Professor Clive Bean (pictured) for his views on how minor party votes will affect PUP’s chances on securing federal seats, and ABC Brisbane spoke to Dr Mary Crawford about the rising popularity of minor parties.
- William Robinson wrote about his love of the piano for Limelight magazine, which also previewed his new Genesis exhibition at QUT’s William Robinson Gallery.
- BuzzFeed mentioned QUT research on mindfulness apps in its article on why Apple is moving into the meditation market.
- Professor Judith McLean described parenting as the ultimate daredevil activity in Mamamia. Mamamia also republished a Conversation article from Dr Rebecca English about parenting without using rewards and punishment.
- Associate Professor Wendy Scaife spoke to WA Today, Brisbane Times, Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Canberra Times about collective giving.Dr. Danielle Tindle
- Dr Danielle Tindle (pictured) shared her recent good news about her cancer prognosis as part of an ABC News story highlighting the unfair costs of treatment, which was republished by Can Mua.
 - The Courier-Mail and Today on Sunday reported on the QUT review of Queensland’s property laws, which also ran throughout the NewsCorp network.
- Susan Hetherington explored what’s happening at this year’s Out of the Box festival on ABC Brisbane, with the station also talking to QUT students working at the festival.
- Science Newsline and Car Advice reported Associate Professor Robert Perrons' vehicle research.
- Professor Shilu Tong told South China Morning Post some countries experience higher mortality rates than others during big swings in temperature.
- Dr Frank Wagner explained network manufacturing to Scoop NZ.
- Australian Regional Media outlets across Queensland, HighBeam and ABC Rockhampton featured Kamila Davidson’s research the weight of primary school children.
- HighBeam and Otras Voces en Educacion reported on Professor Val Klenowski’s address to a conference calling for exam reform.
- The Bayside Star featured Oscar Oviedo-Trespalacios’ study on how drivers compensate for inattention.
The Logan Reporter mentioned 20 QUT optometry students doing vision screening at schools.
- Australia Plus covered QUT’s tips to reduce exam stress by offering animal farms and encouraging students to jump on trampolines.
- Professor Marcus Foth wrote a piece for the Property Observer on how early Professor Karen Thorpeexperiments show a smart city plan should start with people first.
