- QUT CEA’s Anna Rooke (pictured above) predicted Australia will increase its global start-up status in 2016 in an article in The Australian and also featured in a StartupSmart article on how QUT CEA helps fashion startups.
Dr Judith Locke’s research findings that helicopter parents who take over their child’s homework are possibly doing more harm than good was reported by The Courier Mail and other News Corp publications, Essential Kids, Newsroom America and Channel 9’s Today Show. She was also interviewed by ABC Radio Wide Bay’s Breakfast program.
Dr Piet Filet was interviewed by David Curnow on 612 ABC’s Evening show and The Real Estate Conversation about his Flood Hypothetical on planning and preparation for the next flood in Brisbane.
The Project interviewed Dr Rebecca English about some surprising home-schooling results (32 min mark).The Age and Essential Kids also covered the story.
Cosmos Magazine profiled QUT 2015 outstanding alumnus Dr Abigail Allwood.
ABC Cairns sought Professor Jonathan Roberts' comments on the future of robots in aged care. He was also interviewed on ABC Kimberley and ABC Online about the use of robots for search and rescue.
APN papers including The Queensland Times and Sunshine Coast Daily ran a feature on QUT acting grad Anna McGahan joining the cast of the ABC’s popular period drama The Doctor Blake Mysteries.
Brisbane Times ran an article on how technology will help us during floods and quoted QUT experts Dr Amisha Mehta and Professor Axel Bruns.
- Twin teaching grads Rowan and Sean Lutter were profiled by the Jimboomba Times after both starting work at the same local school - Flagstone State Community College – where they’ll even teach the same subjects.
The Daily Telegraph’s Body and Soul section loved Malcolm Burt (pictured below) and his research on rollercoasters bringing out our inner cavemen.

Dr Adrian Barnett was featured in News Corp publications Australia-wide about how the heat wave in South East Queensland could kill people.
Dr Matthew Dunbabin’s research on one of the world’s most active submarine volcanos was reported by NZ publications including Stuff.
Water Active reported on Dr Stephen Hughes’ research into how trees can pull water from the ground to their canopies.
Dr Ross Blackman told MotorbikeWriter rides who forget to turn their indicators off are likely a crash risk.
Professor Per Davidsson was interviewed on 612 ABC about the release of research data and sketchbook videos.
612 ABC Breakfast plugged the Brisbane Virtual Reality Club meeting at the QUT Creative Industries Precinct.
Dr Stephen Harrington’s Conversation article discussed how politically engaged Australians are.
Professor Brian McNair’s Conversation article argued that movies like Spotlight remind us why journalism matters, and of the good work journalists do on our behalf.
Dr Lyndall Bryant spoke to Ten News about incentives being offered to tenants to overcome an apartment glut.
- The Westside News reported that QUT’s PEACH program, led by Professor Lynne Daniels, is going online.
Dance Australia reviewed QUT’s Dance 15 end-of-year performance.
- A call for volunteers to participate in a QUT study into macular degeneration and the fear of falling by QUT optometrist Ursula White was featured in The Bayside Star.
