QUT has won two prestigious prizes and had its learning and teaching methods recognised among the world’s most innovative at an international higher education awards ceremony.

The 2nd annual Wharton-QS Stars Reimagine Education conference, billed as the ‘Oscars of higher education’, awarded The Cube at QUT: A unique innovative learning environment 1st place in the Regional Award – Oceania, and the Reimagining Robotics program 1st place in the Engineering and IT Award. The robotics program also placed 2nd in the Teaching Delivery category.

Held at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, the awards recognise the most innovative new projects across the world designed to improve pedagogy and/or employability and are judged by a panel of international higher education experts.

The Cube at QUT, one of the world's largest interactive digital learning environments, was recognised for its ability to consistently provide inspiring exploratory and participatory educational experiences for intergenerational learners.

Offering immersive scientific experiences to 40,000 visitors a year, The Cube showcases STEM to the general public including outreach to schools and public programming.

The Reimagining Robotics program, led by Professor Peter Corke from QUT’s Science and Engineering Faculty, delivers a unique teaching style and curriculum with the aim of teaching robotics to the world.

Professor Corke’s latest innovation, the development of QUT's first two MOOCs earlier this year, took his pioneering approaches to 21,000 global learners.
