HDR students and Early Career Researchers are invited to a Wikipedia editing workshop as part of Open Access Week celebrations.
This Open Access week event will introduce HDR students and Early Career Researchers to the benefits of editing Wikipedia in their area of scholarly expertise. It will address the common, but unique issues academics face when editing articles in the encyclopaedia in their own discipline.
The workshop will consist of an information session followed by hands-on editing activities. Participants will learn how to identify gaps in the encyclopaedia and find quality resources to address these gaps. The workshop will demonstrate the value of Wikipedia as an amplifier of quality academic scholarship and the benefits of contributing to an open platform.
Prior to the workshop, you are asked to complete the following:
- Create a Wikipedia account.
- Identify a gap in the encyclopaedia based on your research area or discipline knowledge.
- Identify sources to use (open access sources such as OA journals or QUT ePrints preferred).
