During Anti-Poverty Week explore some tips and ideas about managing your household costs while finding out more about on campus financial support services. Sessions will run from the 16th - 18th October.
Anti-Poverty Week 2017@ QUT
The Universities Australia report Australian University Student Finances in 2012 found around half of all undergraduate students have a personal budget deficit and full time undergraduate students distributed 49% of their expenses on household, rent and food.
This year for Anti-Poverty Week @ QUT we are focussing on creating an affordable home. Fact sheets and activities have been developed with tips on finding affordable accommodation and saving on electricity costs.

Come and join your fellow students for a small complimentary hot drink. This week during Anti-Poverty week we will talk about things you can do as a student to create a more affordable home. Come and share your tips on looking for affordable rentals and saving on utility costs, while we play some games.

Did you know if you have a Commonwealth Health Care Card you might be eligible for an Electricity rebate? Do you know how much you spend on electricity to run your fridge, washing machine or air conditioner? Do you know where you can get help if you are finding it hard to meet your living costs?
Come and find out more tips about creating your own affordable home to help you manage on a student budget.
It is also a good opportunity to have a chat with staff from Student Counselling Welfare, International Student Services, Accommodation Services, Equity Services and QUT Guild, regarding your financial difficulties and where to get help.
Come along to the drop in sessions and you could receive a $5 discount voucher to use on campus at QUT’s Food and Retail outlets. (Donated by QUT Food and Retail)
