QUT Bachelor of Laws (Honours) / Bachelor of Information Technology student Josh Buckley has been awarded a Young Technologists Scholarship from Westpac.
The Young Technologist Scholarships are presented to students who are passionate about technology and eager to explore its potential for positive social change.
Josh was one of 34 undergraduate students who were awarded a 2019 Young Technologists Scholarship.
“The Scholarship is an unparalleled opportunity for university students studying in the IT space. I endeavour to mitigate the divide between humans and technology, as the need for technological literacy continues to pervade industries across the globe,” said Josh.
Beyond the financial investment of the scholarship, recipients gain lifelong access to the Westpac 100 Scholars Network. The network connects a community of people from all walks of life with the ideas and drive to help shape a better future for all Australians.
“Being inducted into the Westpac 100 Scholars Network allows connections to be formed with leading industry figures. The chance to network and interact with like-minded individuals who will be at the forefront of their respective pursuits is a genuinely exciting experience,” he said.
“The $25,000 grant over the course of the degree also acts as a catalyst for students to put into action some of their amazing ideas to better their local communities and the technology space.”
The Faculty offers our congratulations to Josh and wishes him luck in his future endeavours.
