One of Australia's best research training environments
Our students have access to the best support services and facilities to optimise the quality of their research outputs.
Our research students have the opportunity to learn from our world-class researchers and use our cutting-edge laboratories and facilities.
Apply for a PhD or research masters offered by the Faculty of Health or Science and Engineering Faculty, and conduct your research through IHBI.
Support and services
We provide practical support and services to assist in skills and career development for our research students, in addition to those you receive from the university and your faculty.
Statistics and research methods assistance
Our research methods group provides regular workshops about frequently encountered statistical problems. You can also get one-on-one help.
Grant and journal writing workshops
Senior IHBI researchers share advice based on their experiences at our grant and journal writing workshops.
IHBI Career Catalyst workshops
Senior IHBI researchers meet and network with students to provide mentorship and discuss possible areas for career development in industry or the university environment
Research seminars and events
We hold fortnightly research seminars featuring IHBI researchers and visiting researchers. We encourage students to attend, participate in, and present at these sessions. These events not only give you an idea about what research is being done at IHBI but areas for potential collaboration.
You'll have access to our specialist research laboratories and equipment.
IHBI annual conference
Each year we hold our 'IHBI Inspires' conference, which provides a supportive forum for our students to develop their conference presentation skills.
You'll have a range of professional developments at this conference, including giving oral and poster presentations, and joining the conference organising committee.
