We're proud to announce our upcoming IFE Grand Challenge Lecture Series speakers.

Humanity faces many grand challenges in the 21st century, from understanding and reducing the impact we have on our environments to managing scarce natural resources and providing for diverse and growing populations. 

Our 2020 Grand Challenge Lecture Series will explore these and other complex challenges and the innovative solutions being developed to create a more sustainable, resilient and secure future for all.  

This year’s first series of speakers features some of the most respected thought leaders in Australian research, policy and advocacy, including: 

  • Renowned scientist, explorer, writer and conservationist Professor Tim Flannery
  • Queensland Chief Scientist and Deputy Director of Science of the Land and Water Business Unit at CSIRO Professor Paul Bertsch 
  • UNESCO Chair in Journalism and Communication Professor Peter Greste
  • Australian Research Council’s Life Course Centre Director Professor Janeen Baxter 
  • President of Science and Technology Australia Professor Emma Johnstone

Grand Challenge Lectures are free and open to the public, but spaces are strictly limited. Tickets will be available approximately two weeks before the event date and our lectures and forums are also distributed via livestream.
