QUT expert, Dr Aaron McFadyen, will delve into the answers with real world examples and explore the future of this cutting edge technology.

Andrew Mansfield, Senior Associate at Sparke Helmore, will consider the regulatory framework and the potential impact of ‘rogue’ drones.

Dr Aaron McFadyen is a Lecturer in the Robotics and Autonomous Systems discipline within the QUT Science and Engineering Faculty. Coupling an aerospace engineering background, pilot qualifications and formal research training in autonomous systems, Aaron is passionate about solving key industry enabling problems in the robotics and aerospace domains.

Aaron currently leads numerous projects with industry and regulatory authorities looking into new unmanned traffic management procedures, products and services. He is a subject matter expert for JARUS and has given invited presentations to NASA and ICAO on unmanned aircraft and air traffic management.



Andrew Mansfield advises insurers and their insureds on all aspects of insurance law, from coverage and indemnity advice, to proactively investigating and resolving claims against them. He specialises in assisting professionals including general aviation operators and those supporting them in both property damage and personal injury claims. He also acts on behalf of his clients in regulatory disputes including investigations, disciplinary proceedings and appeals.

Andrew is the immediate past-president of the Queensland chapter of the Aviation Law Association of Australia and New Zealand (ALAANZ), and a member of ALAANZ's national council.
