Get a head start
'I put QUT as my first preference because they offered the best structured pharmacy degree with the ability to complete an honours component. There are purpose built pharmacy practice rooms complete with a mock dispensary and medications, giving students a head start in the workplace. Throughout the course you learn how to manipulate and compound a variety of products in the state-of-the-art labs - a childhood potion maker's dream. There is also genuine support from the academics. Research that makes a difference
During disasters our health systems become overburdened and unbalanced, with an increase in patients but a reduced amount of available healthcare professionals. With appropriate training, pharmacists have the potential to make a huge contribution during these stressful times. Libby McCourt's research aimed to develop recommendations on how we can enhance the preparedness of pharmacists to respond to disasters in their local communities. Libby's presentation was the winner of the QUT Three Minute Thesis (3MT) award in 2017.
