First choice for biomedical science
'QUT was my first choice for biomedical science because of its practical reputation, flexibility, and choices within the course. I already had a background in nutrition science, but working in the biochemistry field during my final years sparked an interest and motivated me to change the direction of my career. The emphasis on hands-on experience and the amount of time spent in the laboratories was by far the most enjoyable and beneficial part of studying at QUT.'
Our Q Block superlab at QUT's Gardens Point campus is the newest addition to our science and health facilities, providing you with world-class laboratories to prepare for your career.
Pathway to a PhD
'The Bachelor of Biomedical Science prepared me for my career as a scientist through providing a general overview of all health systems within the body and presenting me with opportunities to work in clinical and laboratory settings. During my ten week clinical internship I met a neurologist who I now collaborate with in one of our clinical trials. My PhD is in behavioural neuroscience, but my bachelor's degree provided me with the knowledge I use currently in my role as principal scientific officer. This role calls for an understanding of both neurobiology and immunology.'
