Trusts and foundations

The generous support of philanthropic trusts and foundations has made possible many projects to support our students, advance real-world research and engage with our community.

Our new Science and Engineering Centre, opened in 2013, was supported by a $25m philanthropic gift from The Atlantic Philanthropies, who have contributed more than $64m to QUT. This also included donations for the establishment of the new home of the Institute for Biomedical Research and Innovation (IHBI).

Dr Willa Huston, researcher at IHBI and recipient of a philanthropic grant, is conducting exciting research into the role of the substance known as 'Tsp' in Legionella, which may ultimately help to develop new drug and diagnostic treatments to combat this disease.

A $1.5m grant over 10 years from the Talbot Family Foundation is supporting the groundbreaking work of our Australian Centre for Entrepreneurship Research (ACE). ACE is committed to innovative educational programs that foster successful entrepreneurship, and this gift is an appropriate legacy for the late Ken Talbot, one of Australia's leading entrepreneurs in the resources sector.

You may also consider naming QUT as a beneficiary of a trust and foundation established as a vehicle for individual, family or company giving.

We hold endorsements from the Australian Taxation Office, including deductible gift recipient (DGR) and charity tax concessions (TCC) endorsements, required for trust and foundation grants.

If you'd like more information about setting up a philanthropic trust or foundation within QUT, please contact our Alumni and Development Office.
