Located at the Cross River Rail Experience Centre.

Year 7 to 8 students &ndash\; Sustainable Cities

9.30am - 4pm

From bridges\, footpaths\, bike paths and e-mobility networks &ndash\; students will develop infrastructure solutions to elevate life in our cities. This project is a simulated early-stage multi-field consultancy\, involving students as planners\, designers (landscape\, interior\, architecture)\, civil engineers\, and builders in the context of a hypothetical green bridge project. $40 per student.

Year 9 students &ndash\; Build and Code: Rescue Arms

9.30am - 4pm

Rescue a worker from danger! Using the engineering principles of mechatronics students will design and construct their own robotic arm from a range of components and motors\, then use Python to code the arm to carry out a rescue mission. $40 per student.

Year 10 to 12 students &ndash\; Engineering Link Project

8am - 4pm

A full day experience\, where students participate in two hands-on intensive workshops choosing from a huge range of engineering disciplines facilitated by QUT Ambassadors and real engineers. An opportunity to connect with professional engineers over lunch and during the workshops is unmissable. $60 per student.

Workshops to choose from include:

Sugar Cube Retaining Walls - in a small team\, you will design and construct a small retaining wall out of sugar cubes to be load tested. (Civil Engineering)

Chemical Engineering Project Management - in this task you will focus on the complex issue of gas transportation for the coal seam gas industry. (Process Engineering)

Parachutes - your task will be to design a parachute for an ejection seat from a modern military aircraft to ensure pilots land safely. (Aerospace Engineering)

Medical Device Innovation&nbsp\;- your task will be to intergrate engineering principles with human physiology to&nbsp\;design and prototype a innovative medical device&nbsp\;to improve the lives of many. (Medical Engineering)

Arduino: cars of the future: using Ardunio and robot kits\, you will create fast-acting robots that drive themselves. (Mechatronic Engineering)

Monitoring Taffic - using advanced technologies your task will be to find a safe\, efficient\, and effective&nbsp\;solution to an urban transport issue. Who will be the fastest? (Civil Engineering - Transport)

Renewable Energy - getting to Net Zero with renewable energy\, what can we do? You will look at real-world case studies\, from household solar panels to large scale renewable energy farms to plan and deliver legislated renewable energy targets. (Electrical Engineering)

Cross River Rail: tunnelling 101 - using real-world information relating to the Cross River Rail project you will get to learn about the fundamentals of tunnelling\,&nbsp\;Tunnel Borning Machines\, Tunnel Paths and Tunnel Force\, and solve a client&#39\;s problem\, all&nbsp\;from Queensland&#39\;s largest infrastructure project at Cross River Rail&nbsp\;HQ.

&nbsp\;

When:&nbsp\;Saturday 25 March

Where:&nbsp\;QUT Garden Point campus

Interested? For more information and to register.
