QUT is proud to announce that Dr Lesley Irvine from the Creative Industries Faculty has been awarded Senior Fellow of the HEA - making her QUT's 1000th HEA Fellow.
Despite 2020 being a deeply challenging year for staff and students, it has also been a period of rapid growth for the academy as staff choose to use the fellowship application process to reflect on their practice and the experience of transitioning to online teaching.
Dr Irvine explained her own motivation for applying:
'Following Semester 1, 2020 I decided to apply for senior fellowship. I found the process very useful as it enabled me to reflect on my teaching in general and a rapid transition to online learning more specifically.'
'Next year, the two units that I coordinate will be delivered in dual mode. Although there is still much to learn and many challenges ahead, I am very grateful that I had time this year to consider in-depth what effective learning and teaching means to me. I am fortunate to work with like-minded colleagues and know that we will continue to reflect on how best to support students at QUT.'
There are more than 135,000 HEA fellows globally and the majority of Australian Universities are members of Advance HE.
QUT will close its accredited pathways to fellowship at the end of 2020 but will retain access membership of AdvanceHE so that staff can benefit from discounts if they choose to apply for recognition directly.
