Celebrating a year-round season of giving
The generosity of QUT donors has continued to make a real-world impact in 2021. This year we had a total of 2,330 donors who supported a range of projects including scholarships through the Learning Potential Fund, saving the Great Barrier Reef, furthering prostate cancer research and so much more!
2021 saw 15,489 total gifts (including single and recurring gifts) come in from 2,330 donors, with 865 donors giving for the first time. While there aren’t enough words to express how incredible our philanthropic community is, we’ve included some of the many giving highlights below.
Seeing alumni give back
There are many ways and options for making at gift to QUT, and we had 1,144 alumni donors this year.
Tech startup Skedulo – founded by QUT business graduate Matt Fairhurst and QUT IT graduate James Davies – is one of the companies backing the Budding Entrepreneur Scholarship program.
Marie Mortimer is another business graduate whose company loans.com.au is giving back through the Budding Female Entrepreneur Scholarship.
Alongside these scholarship supporters, we also saw alumni like George and Margaret Wilson opt to leave a lasting legacy through a gift in their Will.
Imagining what's next with Giving Day 2021
On Thursday, 20 May 2021, QUT held its third Giving Day, a fundraiser to ‘Imagine what’s next’ in creating a brighter future for all. In 24 hours, 1,570 donors raised a total of $1,239,329 to support world-changing education, research and community projects.
Inspiring staff support
QUT’s culture of philanthropy continues despite uncertainty. This year, 808 staff have donated, raising $250,151 through payroll giving and one-off gifts, with a generous response in support of the Learning Potential Fund.
