QUT Entrepreneurship fielded seven teams in the global MIT Make Impact Consortium Omni Hotels & Resorts COVID-19 Design and Innovation Challenge.

The Challenge addresses the safe reopening of hotels during COVID-19 to make guests and staff feel safer. The teams worked together in the middle of the night to attend online information and design coaching sessions. Teams pitched their concepts in Round 1 to a panel of MIT staff and industry professionals.

We would like to congratulate all teams for their contribution and representation of QUT and we are excited to announce that three QUT teams moved through to Round 2.  The judges were blown away by the quality of the ideas and of the presentations, remarking “I saw ideas that I NEVER would have thought of…and many ideas that I believe will become real products.”

Teams SNORe, Constellation, and Acumen made up of students across multiple disciplines, are due to submit their technical designs this week, with final presentations later this month.

We wish our students all the best in the next phase of the competition as they continue to develop their entrepreneurial mindset along with their technical skills and work towards the chance to win part of the prize pool and accolades.
