QUT alumni named in the 40 under 40 Asian-Australian Awards
Two QUT alumni – Dr Meru Sheel and Benjamin Law – were recognised in their fields at the ‘40 under 40: Most Influential Asian-Australian Awards’ in September.
Dr Meru Sheel, an infectious disease specialist, won the Science & Medicine award. Meru graduated from QUT in 2010 and now works at the Australian National University. Last year, she led a team of health professionals that responded to a diphtheria outbreak among refugees living in Bangladesh.
QUT creative writing alumnus Benjamin Law won the Arts, Culture & Sport award for his work as an author and journalist. He’s the author of the memoir The Family Law (2010), which was adapted into three seasons of an SBS TV series, which Benjamin created and co-wrote.
