In June, QUT held alumni events held in New York, Santa Monica and Seattle. The diversity and depth of QUT’s alumni community in the US was in full display as alumni from both coasts came out to broaden their professional and personal networks.

As part of the event programs in each city, a panel of alumni speakers discussed social topics relevant in today’s workplace. The panels were a fantastic opportunity to showcase the expertise and wide-ranging knowledge of QUT's talented graduates.

This form of alumni engagement is always an enjoyable and fruitful endeavour, as it enables QUT staff and faculty to spend one-on-one time with alumni and personally hear their thoughts and ideas on how we can best communicate and engage with them.

One of the key takeaways from the visit to the US, is that alumni would like to be more actively involved in career mentoring, facilitating internship opportunities for QUT’s Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program, fundraising activities, and guest lecturing opprtunities for when they are back in Brisbane.

QUT Advancement will look at broadening these opportunities with the support of the Friends of QUT in America Foundation Board of Directors.
