For the first three years after graduating from your PhD, we provide additional support to assist you in your transition to your postgraduate career.
QUT Alumni email
As an alumnus, you will automatically have access to a QUT email address. If you're currently using a @hdr address and would prefer to use the @connect address, make an IT Help Desk change request.
QUT Library will continue to support you in your ongoing research ventures and publications. Some of the resources you can access include; a selection of library databases, updated information via AIRS (Advanced Information Research Skills), course materials, tools and resources on authorship, publication and peer review.
Research development workshops and networks
Graduate Research Education and Development (GRE+D) will send you:
- invitations to research networking and training events
- research news and advice to support you in progressing your career
- invitations to research networking and training events from your institute or faculty.
As a QUT Momentum member, you will receive invitations to events, workshops and other programs, access to a free e-copy of the QUT bluebook and access to a free consultation with a QUT bluebox adviser to assist with considering intellectual property licensing and startup options based on your research outcomes.
Our Human Resources department can provide you with:
- access to existing online resources available to early career researchers during their first three years after graduation
- invitations to on-campus workshop events that may be relevant to early career researchers
- access to the Career, Capability and Support suite of workshops, which are delivered several times a year.
The Employment and Careers service is also happy to support QUT Momentum members as they transition to employment.
The Office of Research is available to provide you with expert advice and assistance with competitive funding opportunities to support fellowships and research projects. Our Office of Commercial Services is also available to help with commercial and consultancy-style research opportunities

Nominate to be a visiting fellow
The Division of Research and Commercialisation invites you to nominate for a visiting fellow position. Your fellowship would stand for 3 years, and during this time you would have access to a range of support and services.
To be eligible for this fellowship, you must verify that you will be completing publications out of your thesis and will be acknowledging QUT in these publications. You must also have a QUT staff member, who you'll be researching with, to sign the form as your nominator.
Fill out the QUT Momentum visiting fellow form (PDF file, 32.0 KB) and email it to the Research Students Centre Manager.
