QUT has launched a collection of free resources for teachers and parents to support and inspire their online teaching and home learning.
The range of resources include learning videos and activities, tips on home schooling, assessment advice for teachers, podcasts for the profession and free online courses.
Professor Simone White said Connected Learning was created as a way to provide support to teachers and educators as schooling moved online and into homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The pandemic situation has indeed been challenging for everyone, especially for those on the frontline of schooling and education like our wonderful teachers and educators,” said Professor White.
“Our lives and learning have been disrupted, but we have witnessed how quickly our profession has collectively stepped up to the challenge. Our teachers and educators by nature are incredibly resilient and creative.
“Now is a time to truly thank and support all those working hard to ensure all students are actively learning.”
Professor White said QUT was well positioned to offer professional support to help teachers and educators adapt to the new online education environment.
“We tapped into the wealth of knowledge and skills of our academics in the Faculty of Education to provide resources and inspiration during these extraordinary times.”
While the immediate future of schooling is uncertain, new resources will continue to be added to the Connected Learning page over the coming weeks and months.
“The pandemic has highlighted that teachers and educators are essential to Australia’s economic recovery and are now providing an invaluable service to the community,” said Professor White.
“We hope these free professional learning resources will continue to provide them with support now and when schools resume.”
The Faculty of Education offers a range of professional development opportunities for teachers and educators, including online modules that can earn you credit towards a postgraduate degree. QUT alumni are eligible for a special discounted registration of 25% off all online modules.
