QUT School of Teacher Education and Leadership hosted a Pedagogy Exchange on 21st July 2017.
The Digital Technologies learning area provides authentic opportunities for students to develop critical and creative thinking. This event was designed specifically for Prep to Year 6 teachers to exchange pedagogies and develop new learning experiences.
Participants considered new and innovative approaches to the Digital Technologies curriculum. They explored and discussed effective strategies for engaging students in critical and creative thinking. By the end of the event, they had tangible plans for incorporating these ideas into their classroom.
Participants had the option of attending three 80 minute workshops from a selection of topics* that included:
|1||Inform, Inspire and Innovate with digital systems|
|2||Teaching the Digital Technologies curriculum without (much) access to technology|
|3||Building your creative inquiry learning space|
|4||Gaming, Digital Technologies and Minecraft|
|5||Teaching Digital Technologies through Design|
|6||Prototyping Towards an Age Friendly City “LittleBits|
These workshops were co-presented by classroom teachers and QUT academics. Each was a hands-on learning experience and involved discussions about how to develop students’ critical and creative thinking when learning about digital technologies.
