What to expect

Our Graduate Certificate in Business (Financial Planning) program is best suited to existing financial advisers who need to complete one or more bridging courses to meet the Financial Advisor Standards (FAS), education requirements.

The three FAS approved bridging units are:

  • Financial Planning Principles and Regulation
  • Ethics and Professional Relationships
  • Client Management - Financial Planning (Capstone)

Taught by industry leaders and expert academics, our program is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and expertise you need to excel as a financial adviser.

In this course, you will learn about the key financial planning processes, concepts, issues, ethical requirements, laws, and regulations applicable to financial services in Australia.

You will also develop a comprehensive understanding of a range of financial planning areas, including investment and asset allocation strategies, tax planning, insurance and risk management considerations, and superannuation and retirement planning.

If you want to expand your real-world financial planning knowledge and skills, you can further your studies with our Master of Business.

Entry requirements

You must be currently registrated as a financial adviser on the ASIC Financial advisers register; and

You must have one of:

  • A recognised bachelor degree (or higher qualification) in any discipline; or
  • A recognised diploma (or higher qualification) in any discipline and at least two years full-time (or equivalent) professional work experience; or
  • At least five years full-time (or equivalent) professional work experience.

Entry requirements

You must be current registration as a financial adviser on the ASIC Financial advisers register and a completed recognised bachelor degree (or higher qualification) in any discipline.

Minimum English language requirements

Your scores and prior qualifications in English-speaking countries are considered. Approved English-speaking countries are Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, United States of America and Wales.

If your country or qualification is not listed, you can still apply for this course and we will assess your eligibility.

We accept English language proficiency scores from the following tests. Tests must be taken no more than 2 years prior to the QUT course commencement.
