Why choose this course?

Data informs decisions and provides an evidence-based approach for creative innovation. QUT’s newly-designed Bachelor of Data Science provides the most up-to-date techniques and knowledge in this fast-evolving field.  With the combination of data science and creative industries this course allows you to understand the intersection of problem solving, critical thinking, creativity and apply data lead insights.

Your comprehensive knowledge of data science tools and techniques will be employed to design new solutions, build new products, or advance people's systems and services.

This course will allow you to develop your own creative niche across a range of majors, with the agility you need to keep creating, adapting and innovating as the world continues to evolve.

Real-world learning

You’ll be prepared for the real world with studio-based learning, skills in entrepreneurship, real industry challenges, work integrated learning (WIL) opportunities and links to creative start-ups.

You will apply theoretical frameworks to real-world problems so you can make clear connections between what is learned in the classroom and your future practice as a data science professional. You will be encouraged to become an independent learner through discussion, debate and interaction with peers and teaching staff, independent studies and self-reflection.

Your studies will culminate with a Data Science Capstone Project and a Creative Industries Enterprise Studio capstone unit where you’ll work on an extensive project with an industry partner to synthesise your learned skills and techniques to solve more complex authentic problems, which will build your preparedness to enter the workforce.
