Congratulations to the team from Hillbrook Anglican School who took out first place in the 2019 QUT AdSpace High School Advertising Challenge for a second consecutive year.

The AdSpace competition run by QUT’s School of Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations with support from The Communications Council, presents students from Years 10-12 with a real-world business problem and requires them to work together as an advertising team to develop and pitch a campaign for a real-world client.

The thirteen teams spent a day at QUT’s Gardens Point Campus and were supported by QUT advertising student mentors who coached the students through a design thinking and campaign process to deliver a campaign pitch to a real client.

Senior Lecturer in advertising and digital media, Dr Louise Kelly said “This is the seventh year that we have been running AdSpace and we are always amazed by the insights and ideas presented by the high school teams.  The students’ enthusiasm and energy is infectious and our QUT student mentors do a great job of guiding the teams.”

The students worked on a brief presented by Renee Davidson, General Manager of Marketing and Digital at RACQ.

“For RACQ this was a brilliant opportunity to work with QUT AdSpace on a real world marketing problem.  And a unique opportunity for us to get the students to work on RACQ Free2Go, a program we have designed for this segment.   It was a fast paced fun day and incredible to see the students apply advertising principles and bring their insights and learnings to develop some really clever campaigns.” Renee said.

Special thanks go to our Advertising Industry Executive judges Mike Kennedy, Nelson Demartini and Don Blackley who had the challenging job of choosing a winner from the high standard of presentations.
