Is Games fever inspiring you to get out your running shoes? Sign up now for the family-friendly QUT Classic fun run on April 29, where young, old, elite and amateur runners – and QUT students – will all be winners.

The annual Classic is run (or walked) across three courses – 1.2km, 5km and 10km – that all start and finish at the university’s Gardens Point campus in Brisbane’s CBD.

The event supports QUT’s Learning Potential Fund which provides scholarships and bursaries for low-income students.

Registration for the QUT Classic is now open, with discounted earlybird prices available until March 29.  After that date, registration costs $25 (1.2km course), $35 (5km course) or $45 (10km course).

Check out last year’s fun in the video below.

Event organiser Jasmin Henery said the day would include plenty of entertainment and activities for spectators and participants, prize giveaways including a signed Brisbane Lions guernsey.

“We had over 1700 participants in 2017 and hope to reach the same this year so we can continue to support the QUT Learning Potential Fund,” she said.

“All abilities are welcome and encouraged to participate in whichever course they feel comfortable in.

“Last year our entrants included some of elite athlete students, lots of parents pushing prams, and our most senior competitor was 90-year-old QUT palaeobotanist John Rigby, who has registered again this year.”

Volunteer helpers are also an important part of the event and Ms Henery said people who would like to volunteer to assist on race day were welcome to register their interest online.
