QUT has launched the 2017 chapter of its popular “Graduate Success” advertising series with San Francisco-based business and IT graduate Sam Senior.
Shot on location in Brisbane and San Francisco, the new campaign highlights Sam’s new life in Silicon Valley as a global strategy consultant with Bain & Company.
Two TV ads were released on the weekend, with the new campaign extending to online (including social media channels) and outdoors.
QUT’s Director of Marketing and Communication, Janne Rayner, said the award-winning Graduate Success series – created in conjunction with BCM – showcased the success of QUT graduates and QUT’s positioning as ‘a university for the real world’.
“Our ‘Graduate Success’ brand platform and campaign series has been well received for over a decade,” she said.
“It has won awards nationally and internationally and showcases our graduates’ real-world credentials in an honest and relatable style that has continued to resonate with audiences.”
When Sam was growing up in the small town of Hervey Bay, he had big dreams of working in business and technology.
Today he is living that dream in San Francisco where he works at Bain, one of the world’s leading global strategy consultancies, specialising in tech.
Sam studied a double degree in business (Economics) and IT (Software Engineering) at QUT in Brisbane, where he achieved a near-perfect GPA (6.9 on 7-point scale) and graduated with distinction.
During uni, he represented QUT at international business case competitions in Hong Kong, Singapore, Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Montreal. Along the way, he also won Australia’s CPA Big Break Project after tackling a real-life business challenge for the Make-A-Wish children’s charity.
After graduation, he landed a job with Bain & Company in their London office and gained experience there before setting his sights on Silicon Valley.
“I’m lucky enough to work in the heart of Silicon Valley and help solve the hardest strategic problems for some of the world’s biggest tech companies,” he said.
Sam said QUT’s global connections – including the opportunity to gain real-world international business competition experience – had helped his career take off.
Other recent QUT "Graduate Success" campaigns featured paramedic Daniel Pincus and teacher Penny Hosking-Potts.
Other successful QUT graduates will be returning to the university on Sunday, July 30, for the QUT Open Day at the Gardens Point (city) campus from 9am to 3pm.
Graduate ambassadors from every faculty (Business, Creative Industries, Education, Health, Law, and Science & Engineering) will return to uni to share their study experiences and career paths.
