Are you looking for a project to complete the work integrated learning (WIL) requirements of your course?

The NEXT Innovation Accelerator program is an opportunity to do this, and connects you with mentors from innovative organisations including Deloitte, Westpac, IAG and CSIRO, entrepreneurs, and QUT academics.

How it works

QUT undergraduate students from different faculties collaborate in teams to develop a diverse portfolio of startup, business and public good innovation proposals in a 12 week accelerator program.

They apply design-thinking innovation, lean startup models, and project management frameworks.

At the end of the program, each team delivers a 20 minute pitch to a panel of judges. One team is selected to participate in the NEXT Innovation Challenge national finals in Sydney.

Check out the NEXT Innovation Accelerator video where the 2016 winners share their NEXT journey.

What to expect

  • A real experience – real organisations seeking innovative ideas to real challenges and an interest in high potential ideas and students.
  • Team-based and student-led – you’ll work in interdisciplinary teams and will be responsible for choosing your area of focus. You’ll also take the lead in engaging with mentors and stakeholders.
  • Blended learning (online and in the boardroom) – across the semester, you will participate in four half-day workshop sessions hosted by an industry partner. You will be supported by an online collaboration and learning platform, and expected to collaborate with your team, mentors and stakeholders.

Who can apply?

Ideal applicants have a good academic record (GPA of 5.0 or higher) and will have completed 144 credit points or more by end of Semester 1, 2017.

Applications close at 9am on Monday 5 June 2017.
