QUT achieves world-class research ranking
QUT is producing world-class research across a range of disciplines according to the latest Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) assessment.
The assessment system, which evaluates the quality of research conducted at Australian universities, rated eleven QUT research areas submitted in four digit Fields of Research (FOR) units with the highest rating of five, meaning the performance is “well above world standard”. This is a significant increase from ERA 2012 when two units had received a rating of five.
A further 21 research areas scored four, meaning they are performing “above world standard”. This means that QUT now has 32 research areas rated 4 or above compared to 22 in ERA 2012.
Professor Arun Sharma, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Commercialisation), said the rankings reflected QUT’s growing maturity as a research institution.
“QUT is one of the fastest-growing research universities in Australia and this shows we are consistently producing cutting-edge research that ranks with the best in the world,” he said.
Professor Peter Coaldrake, Vice-Chancellor, said: “What is most pleasing about the ERA 2015 outcomes is that 100 per cent of QUT research assessed at the four digit level was rated 3 or above, meaning at world standard or above. This is reassuring for our industry partners and for our students as it demonstrates that our teaching and learning programmes are underpinned by world quality research.
“The outcome is recognition of our significant investment in research capacity and the work of our talented and dedicated researchers.”
