What does it involve?

Counselling is a safe and non-judgmental helping relationship between you and a counsellor. It gives you the opportunity to work with a counsellor to better understand your feelings, behaviours, relationships and decisions. It also aims to enable you to:

  • learn new skills to cope better with problems
  • get clarity and perspective on what is happening
  • find support while recovering from some significant life event
  • identify options and make decisions.

Counsellors can provide expert advice on matters in their areas of specialisation and possess skills in therapeutic processes, including:

  • cognitive behaviour therapy
  • hypnosis
  • family therapy.

How long will it take

Full appointments (50 mins) must be booked in advance, and are the best way to get value from your counselling.  Waiting times can vary from 1-14 days.

Walk-in sessions are shorter (20 mins) and usually offered each day on a first-come, first-served basis. They are not suitable for lengthy counselling.
