Section: Project Management Academy
We draw on the teaching and research strengths of one of Australia's largest and most successful universities to customise workshops, short courses and degree award programs for multi-national firms worldwide.
The Project Management Academy (PMA) is joint initiative of the Science and Engineering Faculty and the QUT Business School formed to offer a unique blend of knowledge, skills and experience to industry and government and academe.
The PMA has significant international and domestic contracts with multi-national firms in the construction, oil and gas, minerals and mining and heavy-engineering sectors. The ability to draw on the teaching and research strengths of one of Australia's largest and most successful universities, allows the PMA to offer customised project management executive education programs from workshops, short courses to degree award programs that are contextualised and designed to meet the specific needs of commercial and not-for-profit organisations.

The PMA has been working closely with Royal Dutch Shell (The Netherlands) in developing and delivering a cutting-edge program in Project Management globally. Since 2005, this significant program has seen QUT academic staff working in a consortium with three other leading universities in the project management field:
The PMA is working with Ausenco - an international mining project services company - to deliver a customised Masters in Project Management, contextualised to the company and its mining environment internationally as well as in Australia.
The PMA also teaches in the Masters in Complex Project Management offered by QUT to the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) in Canberra (a 12 month full-time program), continuing QUT's long relationship with the Defence community.
Other clients of the PMA include departments of Queensland Health and Queensland Rail.
The Science and Engineering Faculty has six schools covering 21 disciplines in the areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and urban development, and has forged strong industrial links to focus on real world problems to deliver skills needed now and in the future.
The faculty combines academic strength with external partnerships to remain at the forefront of dealing with some of the major issues facing us today. Sustainability, integrated practice and project management define our teaching and research excellence. Your people will learn from the experts - academic staff who are leaders in their fields.
The QUT Business School is the first in Australia to earn three symbols of excellence from the world's leading accrediting bodies:
Since first gaining its triple accreditation in 2005 it has remained the only Australian business school to hold this triple approval rating and is still among less than 40 such schools worldwide. Strong industry and community links ensure that the QUT Business School is meeting the needs and expectations of employers and providing a strong practical component throughout our courses and the diversity of interests, experiences, and expertise of our academic staff creates a rich learning and research environment. First-class courses, a global community and industry links deliver a learning experience that develops careers.
