Xilin is a post-doctoral research fellow with ARCAA since 2011. He is currently involved with several projects with a research focus on guidance, navigation and control of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing unmanned aerial systems (UAS). At ARCAA, he investigates extensive fields related to forced landing of UAS including emergent collision avoidance, robust flight control, fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control, etc. He is also a lecturer with QUT and teaches several aviation units for avionics undergraduates. Xilin obtained his BEng degree from the Northwestern Polytechnical University, China and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He previously played the main role in an ARC project which aims to achieve a safe maritime recovery of UAS in gusty environments. He provided solutions to a series of estimation and control problems in this project.

My current teaching appointment includes:

1. Aerospace Radio and Radar Systems (ENB451)

2. Navigation Systems for Aircraft (ENB447)
