Biography
BackgroundWaveney coordinates the Applied Skills and Scholarship unit, which introduces students to the skills required at tertiary level, with a particular focus on writing. She also offers individual academic counselling to students.
She has a degree in Modern Languages, a Masters in Adult Education, and many years of experience teaching English to non English-speaking students around the world (Africa, Asia and Europe).
Over the past two decades Waveney has focused her attention on the development of students' research and writing skills for tertiary study.
Her special interest is in assisting students to deal with the many challenges of studying at university, especially mature age students and those with any sort of educational or other disadvantage.
She has published a book on study skills for university students: Jumpstart: Basic Study Skills for University Students.
