Dr Ros Macdonald

BiographyDr. Ros Macdonald teaches an elective moots unit and has previously been Mooting Coordinator for QUT.
In the past she has taught Drafting, Stamp Duty, Real Property, Legislation and Securities. Although she does not teach Environmental Law, her PhD entitled Ecologically Sustainable Coastal Management: a legal blueprint proposes a legislative and administrative model for coastal management in Australia that could be followed, with minimal modification, for all natural resource management. She is undertaking further research on good governance for ecologically sustainable development.
Dr. Macdonald is the Chair of the Faculty of Law Moot Court Working Party and oversees the operation and implementation of technology in the electronic Moot Court, which is the most advanced Moot Court in Australia. With colleagues she is undertaking research into electronic courts and has written in this area - with Anne Wallace; 'Review of the Extent of Courtroom Technology in Australia' (2004) 12 William and Mary Bill of Rights Journal 649.
Currently, her main research interest is plain English legal writing and drafting. She has co-authored two publications in the area - Drafting (Butterworths, Sydney, 1997, new edition 2005 Lexis Nexis) with Denise McGill and Clear and Precise: writing skills for today's lawyer (Queensland Law Society 2000, reprinted 2002, new edition Thomson 2005) with Deborah Clark-Dickson. Dr. Macdonald has been conducting seminars on various aspects of plain English for the legal profession and government in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland since 2000.
