Ms Rosemary Irons

Biography
Rosemary Irons has been involved in mathematics education since 1979.
Her major professional focus is teaching mathematics curriculum and methods in courses for primary and early childhood undergraduate students.
Rosemary conducts mathematics education professional development around the world on topics of:
- beginning processes for early childhood
- patterns and algebra
- all strands of the mathematics syllabi.
Her main goal is to translate theory into practical ideas for use by teachers. Rosemary has an extensive record of community service in Queensland for professional development. She has authored early childhood mathematics programs for Australia, United States and the United Kingdom. During 2007-2008, Rosemary was a QUT Teaching Fellow representing the Faculty of Education for Peer Partnerships as a focus of the advancement of the university's scholarship of teaching.
Rosemary's research is informal: working with teachers in primary and early childhood classes and creating resources that assist the teacher to provide the best for the children's needs in mathematics.

Teaching
Her teaching always presents a focus on the practical nature of teaching mathematics with use of current methods and use of appropriate resources.
Rosemary instills an enthusiasm for teaching and providing the best for each individual student's progression.
Currently, Rosemary teaches in courses on both the Kelvin Grove and Caboolture campuses of QUT.
Experience
Rosemary interacts with many Prep and Year 1 teachers throughout Brisbane, Queensland and across Australia, conducting professional development sessions to support teachers with the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics.
Rosemary is often requested to speak at mathematics curriculum conferences with her expertise of mathematics education and early childhood education.
