Dr Mehdi Amirkhani

Biography
Dr Mehdi Amirkhani is an active researcher on building technologies, building systems and services, retrofitting buildings, sustainable design, net-zero energy buildings, indoor environmental quality, and user experience specialising in innovative energy-efficient lighting systems, evaluating the luminous environment, and lighting effects on health and wellbeing.
Mehdi's PhD thesis established his research significance in the field of lighting design. This research explored commercial façade in regard to lighting (daylight and electric) optimising performance as reflected visual comfort and energy consumption.
Mehdi has been an Editor and Reviewer of several scientific journals and international conferences. He has worked as an Educator and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at different universities. Additionally, he has more than twelve years of practice experience as an Architect and Construction Manager in Australia and overseas.
Dr Mehdi Amirkhani is the Director of Retrofitting Australia Pty Ltd, an Associate Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), Newsletter Editor and Secretary of the Zero Energy Mass Custom Home (ZEMCH) Network and a member of the Architectural Science Association (ASA). He also established a student club during his PhD candidature and was awarded a total of $20,500 in grants.
