Teaching

Ms Carruthers teaches across a range of units that support students understanding of critical social work and critical social research in the social work and human services program. These include: SWB220 Practice theories, SWN004 Communication and engagement in professional contexts, SWN002 Intro. to social work practice and contexts, SWN025 Critical and ethical practice in organisations, SWH200 Critically reflexive practice in organisations, and SWN020 Practice research project (Critical discourse analysis stream). All units support and understanding of critical practice in social work, Linking theory and practice, critical praxis and critical reflection. Jean uses critical performance pedagogy, a critical and performative strategy in social work education to support her teaching practice.
