Professor Evelyn Vingilis

Professor Vingilis is the Director of the Population and Community Health Unit in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at The University of Western Ontario in Canada. She visited Australia from October - December 2002 as a QUT/CARRS-Q Visiting Fellow.She is a psychologist with established research excellence and an extensive publication record in alcohol, drugs and traffic safety, at risk youth, and mental health services reform. She is one of the few international scientists doing research on the impact of globalisation on injury prevention and control.She uses a public health approach to research and in the past few years has received over 26 research grants and attracted over $5m for her research program. She is particularly interested in learning about recent reserch developments and programs related to injury prevention and is a member of the CARRS-Q International Advisory Committee.
