Biography
Evan Jones came to QUT as a lecturer in dance in 1997. Studying towards the Graduate Certificate in Education helped him attune his dance knowledge and teaching methods to the university context.- 2000 - 2005: Dance Courses Coordinator
- 2004: QUT Teaching Fellow.
Dance has been a central part of Evan's life for as long as he can remember.

Career highlights
Evan left Australia at 18 - cutting short a promising career as Humphrey B. Bear - to study at Rosella Hightowers Centre De Danse International in Cannes, France. After nine months, Rosella offered Evan a place in the Marseille Opera Ballet.
1972: He joined Roland Petit's "Ballet National de Marseille" for a season before going to Gerhardt Bohner's "Tanztheater Darmstadt" as a soloist in 1972.
1975: Evan went with ballet master, Morley Wiseman to Vancouver, Canada, to set up a dance studio. Here he learned to integrate some of Moshe Feldenkrais' ideas into his dancing and dance teaching. Evan also performed with three of the local companies.
1979: he returned to Germany to dance with the Frankfurt Ballet where he performed in choreographies by:
- Petipa
- Cranko
- Balanchine
- Kylian
- Forsythe
- Plucis and many others.
The company toured the world and established international renown under William Forsythe's direction.
1991: Evan accepted the invitation of Darmstadt's artistic director, Andris Plucis, to become ballet master at the Staatstheater there. This intimate creative work greatly increased his expertise as teacher and coach.
1996: Andris, Luc Vercruysse and Evan performed as "The Lost Romeos" at the Mousson Turm, Frankfurt.
