Dr Colin Jones

Biography
Dr Colin Jones is Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship. He joined QUT's School of Management in January 2016, having held a similar position at the University of Tasmania since 2001. A late comer to the world of academia, Dr Jones has owned and operated many service-related businesses. In the early eighties, Colin gained a trade qualification working as a Diesel Fitter. During the late eighties a move into the financial investments sector provided another outlet for his passion of helping people. This was followed by his development of the VIP Home Services franchise group throughout Tasmania. He also created and took to market a unique educational product, imported tractors for resale and worked as a business consultant in a diverse range of industries. Colin coordinated the Entrepreneurship major at the University of Tasmania from 2004 to 2015, teaching into Postgraduate subjects as well. His move to QUT provides an opportunity to further contribute to the development of authentic entrepreneurship and enterprise education that is transformation and real in its development and delivery. Colin's research interests include entrepreneurship and enterprise education and the application of autecology in the social sciences.
