Within the broad field of property economics, Dr. Bwembya C. Chikolwa and his research team have defined three main research areas
- Property Valuation
- Property Investment and Finance
- Project and Infrastructure Financing.

2007 – Present: Lecturer in Property Economics, School of School of Urban Development, Queensland University of Technology, Australia
- Lecturing in various property and infrastructure related units. Areas of expertise: property economics and finance; property valuation, project and infrastructure finance.
- Attendance and delivery of papers at conferences and their subsequent publication in journals.
- Involvement in university consultancy research projects.

- Supervising undertaking of quality consultancy service on real estate to determine optimum values and realise revenue
- Supervising undertaking of property transfer tax analysis with the aim of maximising government revenue
- Supervising a team of eight valuation officers in order to attain the Departments’ set goals and objectives.
