Dr Bek Christensen
This person does not currently hold a position at QUT.
Since completing my PhD in ecology (Flinders University, 2009) I have worked in roles across the science impact pathway from research through to knowledge brokering, research infrastructure leadership, and roles in policy using science to the inform policy and decision-making processes. I have worked in partnership across universities, other publicly-funded research organisations, government agencies, industry, NGOs, and with the general public.
After 5 years in the central coordination team of the Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network – a national research infrastructure capability – I joined QUT to promote the development and use of QUT's research infrastructure to enable our research across diverse fields including environmental science, robotics, digital culture, and material sciences.
As Research Infrastructure Specialist (Ecology), I manage the Samford Ecological Research Facility (SERF), looking for opportunities to increase use of SERF, stimulate new research activities, facilitate new collaborations, and support our access to national and international environmental research infrastructure.
