Biography
Dr Alice Strazzabosco is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow within the Centre for Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) Business Innovation at QUT Business School. She contributes to a research project investigating drivers and barriers to renewable energy technologies diffusion in the mining industry. Alice completed her PhD in 2020 with the Advanced Water Management Centre (AWMC) at UQ. The primary goal of her research project was to improve the understanding of the feasibility and the challenges of integrating renewable electricity technologies in the water industry, with the long-term aim of supporting decision-making regarding renewable energy in this industry. Through a mix of descriptive and exploratory research, including systematic literature review, data mining and stakeholder engagement, her thesis drew a detailed picture of i) how much renewable electricity is currently generated in the water industry ii) what renewable energy technologies are adopted iii) how renewable electricity generation has evolved through time, and iv) what factors have led to the current level of generation and which ones will enable future investments. Even though this research focused on Australia, the dataset was complemented using California (USA) as an ancillary case-study. Prior to commencing her PhD, Alice worked as a laboratory technologist (stable isotopes) for the Institute for Future Environments at QUT and as a solar engineer for a solar photovoltaic firm. Alice holds master's and bachelor's degrees in Environmental Engineering.Personal details
