2009 – 2011: President of the Australian Association for Caribbean Studies (AACS). Convened and led 8th Conference of the AACS, Brisbane, 11-13 Feb., 2009. Chaired 9th conference of the AACS in Newcastle, New South Wales, 16-18 Feb, 2011.

2001 – 2004: President of the World Council of Comparative and International Education (WCCES). Convened, led and presented keynote address at 12th conference of the WCCES in Havana, Cuba 2004.

2005 – 2010: Executive member, Board of the World Council of Comparative and International Education (WCCES).

Themes: Educational implications of globalisation & change; global wealth & poverty disparities in education; Peace studies and conflict awareness; Educational activism for human rights; Pedagogies to challenge oppression; Health and environmental pedagogies for the non-specialist teacher; Gender and education in global context; Planning for teaching with a multiliteracies approach including information technology, media and multi-lingual planning.
CLB401 Cultural Diversity and Education (B.Ed. elective) Offered on-line. Themes: Patterns and implications of ethnic diversity in Australian socio-cultural contexts; perceptions of ethnicity and anti-racist education; multicultural pedagogies for diversity; Indigenous issues in education; planning the multicultural school and classroom.
CLN604 – Globalisation and Educational Change (M.Ed. Elective) Offered in Semester 1 each year. Themes: Perspectives on analysing socio-cultural change; globalisation theories; postcolonial theory and its application to education; country case studies of education and change; analysing change in educational policy for sectors and curriculum including language planning, gender issues, multicultural studies and futures studies.
