World champion swimmer and QUT student Cate Campbell became the first Australian woman to win five gold medals at a Pan Pacific Championship in Tokyo, dominating the four-day event which finished on Sunday.

Campbell, along with five other members of QUT’s Elite Athlete Program were members of the Australian Dolphins swimming at the Pan Pacs or the Para Pan Pacs that were held in Cairns. All six are coming home with medals.

The five gold medals won by Campbell included the 100m freestyle, in which she swam at a blistering pace to record the second fastest time in history.

  • 4x100 mixed medley relay – Mitch Larkin and Cate Campbell
  • 4x100 medley relay women – Cate Campbell
  • 4x100 freestyle relay women – Cate Campbell
  • 100m freestyle - Cate Campbell
  • 50m freestyle - Cate Campbell
  • 400m freestyle - Jack McLoughlin
  • 50m freestyle S4 - Rachael Watson (ParaPanPacs)

SILVER

  • 200m individual medley - Mitch Larkin

BRONZE

  • 4x100 medley relay men – Mitch Larkin and Grant Irvine
  • 100m backstroke - Mitch Larkin
  • 800m freestyle - Jack McLoughlin
  • Open Water 10km - Nicholas Sloman
