Diploma of Entrepreneurship
In an Australian university first, QUT is launching a Diploma of Entrepreneurship starting in Semester 2, (July) 2022. Delivered by the QUT College and developed in partnership with QUT Entrepreneurship, the Diploma seeks to develop entrepreneurial mindset and skill alongside discipline studies in Information Technology, Business or Creative Industries. Students will engage in an array of extra-curricular entrepreneurial activities on and off campus. The Diploma may be used as advance standing for QUT’s Bachelors’ degrees in Business, Creative Industries or Information Technology. Information about the Diploma is here.
The Diploma has come about through QUT’s real world priority for entrepreneurship. Associate Professor Glen Murphy, who led the development of the program from QUT Entrepreneurship, said, the Diploma is “driven by a market need to provide a reputable qualification for those wanting to be identified as entrepreneurial and innovative professionals or those interested in the establishment of new ventures”. He went on to say, “it builds on the significant amount of entrepreneurial learning in schools, work on entrepreneurial mindset and provides an alternative pathway into QUT”.
At QUT College, work is underway to deliver the new course. Mr Kenneth Beutel, Executive Director, QUT College, said, “the College takes great pride in providing a meaningful and supportive environment for students. By working with QUT Entrepreneurship we can integrate students into entrepreneurial community at QUT and they can build their networks”.
Two Bursaries of $1,500 are available to students starting the Diploma in July 2022. Requiring a 3- minute video pitch, the Bursaries acknowledge the difference education can make to entrepreneurial intent and action.
