On the April 19, three CIQ staff visited Rockhampton as judges for the 2018 Rockhampton Regional Speaking Competition, hosted by the Heights College.

CIQ highly values our strong working relationship with Heights College. Since the establishment of the Chinese language program seven years ago, the number of Chinese language students has increased from one Year Four class to classes from Years Five to Ten.

At this year’s Speaking Competition, 44 students (including from local cluster schools) competed.

The invaluable support of the teachers, especially Ms Yu and the Principal, Mr Darren Lawson, ensured the day was a great success for all involved. The Principal, together with CIQ Deputy Director Prof Linda Lin, presented the prizes to students.

After the competition, CIQ staff were joined by more than 120 students (and some teachers!) for Chinese cultural experiences including Taiji and Chinese folk dancing.
