‘It was a big honour to accept this award on behalf of the QUT CIQ team. It recognises the exceptional work undertaken by our team, inclusive of our Confucius Classrooms located in 10 high schools throughout Queensland,’ Antoine said.

The Confucius Institute of the Year award celebrates outstanding achievement in the promotion and teaching of Chinese language and culture in the CIQ Confucius Classrooms and community short courses. The CIQ also provides world-class professional development programs for Queensland teachers.

In 2017, the CIQ was awarded a partnership grant from the State Government’s Trade and Investment Queensland to pilot the national vocational Certificate II in Applied Language within the Yeronga State High School, to be delivered together with hospitality skills development.

The CIQ is very proud to have been acknowledged as a Confucius Institute of the year in 2010, 2011 and 2017, as well as receiving an Individual Performance Excellence Award in 2012.
