The CIQ Leadership Team had the opportunity to visit the Merrimac State High School CIQ Confucius Classroom while attending the TIQ International Education & Training Summit on the Gold Coast.

Merrimac Principal Chris Tobin and Confucius Classroom Coordinator Lu Wang were generous hosts for the visit. CIQ Director Antoine Barnaart and Deputy Director Xiaowen Lin enjoyed the opportunity to visit the impressive Confucius Classroom, meet with the enthusiastic students taking Chinese classes, and tour the school facilities.

Principal Tobin spoke about the range of benefits of having a Confucius Classroom. He mentioned that the funding provided by the CIQ allowed the school to provide students with the opportunity to attend special Chinese cultural activities, essential in developing student interest in China. He also highlighted the benefits of the CIQ School Leaders Study Tour to China to their management team.

CIQ Deputy Director Xiaowen Lin was impressed with the full range of other activities available for students in the school, particularly the vocational study options and the high quality facilities supporting courses in trades, hospitality, community services, and health support services.

Director Antoine Barnaart extends his thanks to the Principal and the school for their continued support of the CIQ and the efforts they are putting into the running of their CIQ Confucius Classroom.
