Gym and sports facilities

Healthstream Aquatic and Fitness Centre

Gardens Point's fitness facilities are available for students, staff and the public. The aquatic centre, gym and cycle facilities on campus are operated by Healthstream at our Science and Engineering Centre.

Swimming pool

With a 50m FINA-approved indoor pool, the Gardens Point aquatic centre offers:

  • recreational swimming
  • stroke correction and learn-to-swim classes
  • squad training
  • aqua aerobics
  • water polo.


The gym features:

  • an indoor running track
  • pin-loaded and free weights
  • cardio equipment
  • spin studio
  • group fitness studio.

Personal training

You don't need to be a gym member to book an appointment with a personal trainer. Training is tailored for you, and can include sessions focused on:

  • strength and conditioning
  • weight loss
  • rehabilitation
  • triathlon and sport-specific training
  • corporate wellness
  • self-defence.

Cycle centre

Gardens Point's state-of-the-art cycle centre makes riding to and from the city easy. It's open seven days a week, and allows you to store your bike on campus. It features:

  • 213 Josta bike racks
  • luxury changing rooms
  • lockers
  • laundry service and fresh towels.

Membership packages include daily, monthly, six-monthly and annual options.

Exercise and physiotherapy services

Core Healthcare can tailor physiotherapy programs for individuals or groups.

Student sport

As a student, you'll have the opportunity to get involved in premier and social sport competitions. Social sports include basketball, netball, volleyball, dodgeball, touch football, water polo and soccer, as well as social dance classes.

QUT Sport also provides training and organisation for the Australian University Games.

We are recognised by the Australian Institute of Sport and the Australian Sports Commission as an Elite Athlete Friendly University. We provide flexible study options for our athletes. More than 300 elite athletes, across more than 50 different sports, are currently enrolled at QUT.
