Hi, my name is Tamara and I am in my fourth (and final!) year of a Bachelor of Design, majoring in Interior Design.

When I finished Year 12, I had no idea what I wanted to do. All I knew was that I wanted to study at QUT because of the great reputation that it upholds. So, I started at QUT with a Bachelor of Education at the Caboolture campus, but after two years decided that my interests were truly in design. And now, six years later, I am absolutely in love with my degree!

The practical teaching methods that are employed at QUT have really helped to engage me in my learning. Knowing that the tutors are always there to guide me is just so encouraging. Having three-hour studio classes each week, where we learn to design and draft up construction drawings for spaces (both on computer and by hand), is by far the most practical and enjoyable part of my degree.

My tip for surviving: keep a diary and allocate time to study (of course) but, more importantly, allocate time to looking after yourself (your sanity will thank you). Finding that balance between study, work and socialising is so important if you want to succeed.
